Each stop is assigned a safety score from 1–10 based on publicly available crime data from the FBI Crime Data Explorer and local law enforcement. A higher score means a safer area around that stop.
Scores are calculated using FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data via the Crime Data Explorer API, cross-referenced with location data. Scores are updated periodically as new data becomes available. They reflect general area safety and are not a guarantee of conditions at any specific location or time.
SafeStop helps road travelers make smarter, safer decisions about where to stop — whether you're filling up the tank, grabbing food, or spending the night.
Every stop on the map is paired with a safety score drawn from real crime data, so you can quickly compare options and choose the stop that feels right for you and your family.
We built SafeStop because we believe everyone deserves to travel with confidence — no matter where the road takes them.
